The dictionary definition of the word interface in the context of computers is:
“The point of interaction or communication between a computer and any other entity, such as a printer or human operator” and
“The layout of an application's graphic or textual controls in conjunction with the way the application responds to user activity.”
Hmmm.
For our purpose we can call it a connection! To be more specific a connection where both sides understand each other using a common protocol.
You may have heard the words “user interface” here at Guildford we tend to call it “Windows”! Windows is our connection to the computer. The protocols are generally our eyes and fingers, the screen, keyboard and mouse.
